Tanzania (novel)
A couple from Los Angeles embark on a luxury safari in East Africa. Intended as a new beginning for their troubled marriage, the trip is beset by mishaps and colored by the psychotropic effects of an anti-malarial drug. Set in remote areas of the Serengeti during the summer of 2001, Tanzania is a journey of memory, paranoia, and prescience. Publication date to be announced.
In Progress:
Take Fountain (novel)
Three generations of actresses–godmother, mother and daughter–navigate life, death and careers in Los Angeles.
Sōseki and Me (nonfiction)
My love of Natsume Sōseki (1867-1916), Japan’s first and greatest modern novelist, propelled me not only through his books but to all the places where he lived and worked in Japan and abroad. The result–part biography, part literary critique, part travelogue, part memoir–recounts my (literary and actual) odyssey.
